What is CSAI (Client-Side Ad Insertion)?
CSAI (Client-Side Ad Insertion) is a method used in digital video advertising where the video ads are inserted directly on the user's device (browser or app). This approach contrasts with SSAI (Server-Side Ad Insertion), where ads are stitched into the video content on the server before it's sent to the user.
In CSAI, the video player on the client side requests both the video content and the ad content. Once the ad is selected, it is inserted into the video stream at the appropriate moments, such as pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll. This allows advertisers to deliver targeted ads to specific audiences in real-time. However, CSAI can sometimes face issues like buffering or ad blockers, which may impact the viewing experience.
Benefits of Client-Side Ad Insertion:
- Real-Time Ad Targeting: Ads are dynamically served based on user data.
- Greater Control for Publishers: Publishers have flexibility in ad placement and formats.
- Improved User Experience: Allows for interactive video ads and companion banners that engage viewers.
